In the month of May several consortium partners (Hortimare, SAMS, Oceanfuel) have been busy harvesting and analysing the first set of experiments which have been performed at sea in Norway, Scotland and Ireland. The sheet experiments were a great success, and nice results were obtained in this experiment at all locations.

In the experiment 11 different types of substrates were tested to see which had the best attachment and growth properties for large scale seaweed aquaculture. At each location, similar attachment results were found, although growth of the seaweeds varied between sites and substrates. Next growing season (winter, 2013) similar tests will take place at larger scale with more optimized substrates.
